I couldn't believe it when I downloaded Blackra1n to jailbreak my iPhone 3G 8GB running OS 3.1.2! I thought it would all be a joke! A 30 second jailbreak that works 100% with no catches?! Come on, I thought, it's all a dud! However when I tried it, I was proved totally wrong. It IS a 30 second jailbreak and it DOES work 100% and WITH NO CATCHES! Plus it's compatible with Windows 7 (if you run it with Windows Vista/Windows 7 make sure you run it in Windows XP SP2 compatibility mode or it will give you a message saying "this program has encountered an error and needs to close!"). All you need for a successful Blackra1n iPhone jailbreak is the following:
1. 30 seconds of your time.
2. The latest iTunes installed on your computer (iTunes 9.0.2 is the latest ATM).
3. iPhone OS 3.1.2 firmware file (.ipsw) - this is around 250MB.
4. Blackra1n iPhone Jailbreaking software (this is ONLY around 500kb in size!)
5. Internet connection for activating your iPhone and downloading Cydia.
So...have you got all of the above? Well then all you need to do now is follow these simple instructions:
1. Update/Restore your iPhone to OS 3.1.2 using iTunes (press SHIFT + RESTORE to browse for the firmware file if you already have it otherwise iTunes will download it for you). It is ESSENTIAL that you restore your iPhone to factory OS 3.1.2 using iTunes otherwise the jailbreak will not work.
2. Once you have restored/updated your iPhone and activated it via iTunes open Blackra1n (make sure you run it in Windows XP SP2 compatibility mode if you are using Windows Vista/Windows 7 - to enable this simply right-click the Blackra1n application and enable it from the PROPERTIES tab). Also make sure that you do not unplug your iPhone from your computer. It must remain connected throughout the update/restore and the jailbreak process.
3. Then click MAKE IT RA1N and your iPhone will then enter RECOVERY MODE. 30 seconds later your jailbreak is complete.
4. Open the Blackra1n iPhone application located on your iPhone's homescreen and click DOWNLOAD CYDIA. You will need access to the internet on your iPhone to download this (it will take anything between 2-5 minutes depending on how much coverage you have). Then you're all set up & ready to go.
